A clash of former CTers provided a last-minute nail-biter from No. 1 Jackson Bunch, but Lucca Mesinas held firm to take down the rankings leader and further his spot within the Top 10, with fellow Peruvian Alonso Correa punching his ticket to Finals Day as well. Heading into women’s action, No. 1 Sierra Kerr was also toppled by rising phenom Kiara Goold in their head-to-head clash. Charly Quivront established himself as a CT qualification threat, moving to No. 7 on the rankings after taking down CTer Joel Vaughan. Goold’s fellow teenage talent, Charli Hately, found a buzzer-beater to earn her best-career result so far to push the narrative of emerging phenoms. Plus, Ryan Kainalo continues an incredible run near home waters to fly Brazil’s flag into Finals Day, along with Kei Kobayashi posting excellence in the tough conditions.
