Megalodon Didn't Die When You Think It Did

The textbooks say megalodon vanished 2.6 million years ago, killed by an ice age or even an exploding star. The fossils say otherwise. In this documentary, we follow the paleontologists who went back through the megalodon tooth record, threw out the badly dated specimens, and moved the extinction back by about a million years, to roughly 3.5 million years ago. We look at why the old date was wrong, why the supernova theory fell apart, and what actually pushed the largest shark in history out of the ocean: a shrinking range, a thinning supply of whales, coastlines that kept disappearing as sea levels swung, and new rivals like the early great white and the ancestors of the killer whale.
