Divine help, God’s mercy and positioning your heart to receive His help are the focus of this message by Apostle Joshua Selman. Learn how humility, prayer and kindness shape a life of dependence on God.
In “Ebenezer: When God Helps Men,” the teaching draws from Uzziah’s story in 2 Chronicles 26:5, 15 and Samuel’s memorial in 1 Samuel 7. Ebenezer points to the acknowledgment that the Lord has helped His people. The message explores what help means: assistance that makes a task possible, achievable or easier through someone’s services or resources.
Apostle Joshua Selman explains why gifts, intelligence and diligence do not remove every limitation. Human strength and knowledge have limits; prejudice and selfishness can obstruct deserving people; and the sermon also considers spiritual opposition. This is an encouragement to seek God’s help while recognizing the value of practical support and healthy relationships.
The teaching identifies three ways God helps: His mercy, the ministry of people and the ministry of the Holy Spirit. It then develops three responses for those seeking help: maintain humility, pray sincerely for mercy and become a helper to others. Kindness is broader than money—it can include encouragement, time, prayer and being present with someone in distress.
The closing challenge is to respond to help with thanksgiving, testimony and using every blessing for God’s glory. Listen for the distinction between receiving assistance and becoming a channel of assistance yourself. The service includes extended worship, personal supplication, an invitation to receive Christ and closing prayers.
