Filmed on 1.4.2025. This os elevator number 5 at Porthania building, University of Helsinki. This elevator is service elevator. Floors K and 1 have maintenance facilities. Floors 4 to 7 have lecture rooms. 2nd floor has UniCafe Porthania, Application Production, IT Services, teachers lounge, Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science (Helsus) Hub lounge and exit to Fabianinkatu. Floors 2 and 3 have Digihub. Floors 2, 3 and 5 have meeting rooms. 3rd floor has Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science (Helsus), Helsinki Institute of Urban and Regional Studies, Alumni Association, Hautomo, Helsinki Incubators and access to Vuorikatu 3, Learning Centre Aleksandria and Kaisa House. 4th floor has Private Law, Environmental Law and China Law Center. 5th floor has General Jurisprudential Studies, Central and Procedural Law, European Law, Legal Tech Lab, Researcher Hall and Faculty Room. 6th floor has Public Law and Erik Castrén Institute. The elevator has glass doors and walls on floors 2 to 6. Outer upper glasses on right side of the doors have floor signs. Floors 2 and 3 door upper glasses have elevator signs in Finnish with capacity notes. The elevator has lamp indicators on floors K and 1. The elevator was in a set of two elevators with elevator number 4 next to each other. Now elevator number 4 next to this one has been separated for freight use while this one is for general service use. Now the elevator has been rebuilt by Schindler in 2005, extended down to reach basement level 2 (K2), reduced down from 6th floor to reach only 2nd floor (nowadays floor 2B) and rear doors were added for basement level 2 (K2), changed side on 1st floor and added stop on floor 2A. Glass doors and glass walls next to doors were removed from 2nd floor (nowadays floor 2B). The elevator requires showing badge for using it when going to other floors than 2B which are restricted floors. Basement (K) is marked as K1 at the rest of Porthania and 2nd floor is marked as 2B on elevator number 4. That’s because they use more specifying floor numbering systems and elevators number 2 and 4 have basement level 2 (K2) below basement level 1 (K1) and elevator number 4 has also floor 2A between floors 1 and 2B and that’s for avoiding confusion between them.
