Why Did Police Reach Congress Councillor Nimbaram? | Tejpal Mirdha vs Richpal Mirdha Nagaur Latest News A major political controversy has erupted in Kuchera municipality of Nagaur ahead of the chairperson election. Congress councillor Nimbaram, Congress leader and chairperson candidate Tejpal Mirdha, and BJP leader Richpal Singh Mirdha have come into focus as both sides fight over the numbers required to form the municipal board. The political arithmetic in Kuchera is extremely tight. Out of 25 wards, Congress won 12 seats, BJP secured 8 and Independents won 5. A total of 13 councillors are required for a majority, leaving Congress just one seat short and making every councillor crucial in the battle for the chairperson post. The latest controversy began after a complaint was filed alleging that newly elected Ward 9 councillor Nimbaram and his wife had been kidnapped or illegally confined. Acting on the complaint, police reached the location where Congress councillors were staying to investigate the allegations and record Nimbaram’s statement. However, Nimbaram subsequently released a video saying that he was safe, had not been kidnapped and was staying there voluntarily. According to reporting on the video, he also alleged that pressure was being put on him to vote in favour of BJP. Police said the actual circumstances would be determined after recording his statement and examining the facts. Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra and Tejpal Mirdha have questioned the police action. They alleged that the BJP government was using the administration to pressure Congress councillors. These are allegations by Congress; they do not by themselves establish misconduct by the police or BJP.
