I've been teaching for over 17 years and have worked with hundreds of students, probably more than a thousand. In all that time, I have never met someone who couldn't learn Spanish. With the right strategy and a customized plan, you can get where you want to go. Since anyone can claim anything on YouTube, here's how I got here: 10½ years: Catholic missionary. 4 years in Guam, 2 in the Turks and Caicos Islands, 2½ across the U.S. Studied philosophy and theology, learned English and some Italian. 2009: Came back to Colombia and started teaching English and Spanish at three different schools. Also worked as the international Spanish coordinator for a homestay business. Then: Two years teaching online with a company. Feb 23, 2018: Quit my last job at a school to build my own project, teaching private Spanish students only. At first, half my classes were in person and half online. Now most are online. Oct 2024: Started posting on YouTube consistently. I knew I had a great product, but people needed to get to know me before they'd consider working with me. What makes me different: Experience. In Spanish we say, "la experiencia no se improvisa": experience can't be improvised. I didn't just start posting Spanish videos on YouTube. I've been teaching for 17+ years, and I know what I'm talking about. I've taught both English and Spanish, so I know the common mistakes students make and why they make them. I've been through the process of learning a language myself, so I know the challenges and the struggles, and I'll help you set realistic expectations. What I focus on: Pronunciation, high-frequency words (the 20% that matters, the 80/20 principle), and connected speech. My approach: I can't learn the language for you. I can show you the way, guide you, give you feedback, and show you your mistakes, but the hard work is yours. We live in the age of information, and most people are confused because they don't know what they need to learn or study. That's where I come in.
