Digital Art 101: The History of Digital Art | “Open to the Public” Lecture with Mary McCawley

For Digital Art 101, digital art curator Mary McCawley joined the Kansas City Artists Coalition to take us through more than 60 years of artists experimenting with machines, code, screens, algorithms, and emerging technology—and the questions that have followed them along the way. What counts as digital art? Can a machine create? Who is the artist? Who owns the work? And what makes any of it valuable?
