PHSG - Choir at Commencement Ceremony

On 6 February 2020, the new Grade 8 students were welcomed with open arms into the Girls’ High school hall for the first time. The highly anticipated evening began with the Grade 8s singing the school song which was then followed by a welcoming from Mrs Erasmus and a speech from guest speaker and author, Sihle Nontshokweni. As the evening progressed, the audience was presented with a musical number from the choir and a rendition of the song Viva La Vida from the saxophone ensemble. As this momentous occasion drew closer to a conclusion, each learner received a colourful house badge. After the badge ceremony, each house was individually escorted from the hall to the North Quad. The members of each house had set up a table in the North Quad for display, and now the parents were able to see these tables and listen to house cheers. The Grade 8s went home feeling as though they were truly part of the Girls’ High family and that this was a great start to their high school journey.
