The incident reportedly took place when the Nagar Kirtan reached Bhandal Bet village in Kapurthala district, where a long traffic jam had formed involving vehicles participating in the procession. Witnesses reportedly said that an argument began after SGPC personnel allegedly asked some Nihang Singh vehicles to move aside, while the Nihang Singh group said the road ahead was already blocked. The verbal dispute reportedly turned violent, during which a SGPC employee was allegedly injured in an attack involving a kirpan. The injured person was initially taken to a private doctor and was later shifted by ambulance for further medical treatment. There were also reports of journalists facing obstruction while attempting to record the incident and seek the sides' responses. Police personnel present with the Nagar Kirtan reportedly intervened and brought the situation under control. The procession later continued towards its next destination, while the injured SGPC employee was taken for further treatment.
