Key Story Beats A Month of Despair: Amicia wakes up at the château after searching frantically for Hugo for three days, eventually being rescued by Melie and Arthur. A month passes into January 1349; Amicia is heartbroken and hopeless over Hugo's disappearance, while the group continues setting up daily defenses against the nightly rat swarms. The Siege of Château d'Ombrage: The château's defensive light-mechanisms suddenly fail as massive rat swarms overflow from the central pitfall, splitting the group. Lord Nicholas arrives at the fortress leading a brainwashed Hugo, who is using his newly awakened Macula power to control rat swarms to break through the castle's defenses. Breaking the Conditioning: Nicholas tries to force Hugo to command the rats to kill Amicia by threatening their mother's life. Rather than fighting back, Amicia rushes forward and embraces her brother. This unconditional love breaks Vitalis's mental hold over Hugo, reuniting the siblings emotionally and unlocking Hugo's full potential over the Macula. Arthur's Sacrifice & Confronting Nicholas: Nicholas attacks, but Arthur creates a distraction to help Amicia and Hugo. However, as Arthur checks on Nicholas, the Inquisitor recovers and brutally slays Arthur. Defeating Lord Nicholas: Enraged, Amicia and Hugo work together to defeat Nicholas. Amicia uses alchemical Extinguis to put out surrounding braziers and flames, while Hugo commands swarms of rats to overwhelm Nicholas, dragging the villain underground to his death. A New Mission: Devastated by Arthur's death, Melie and the rest of the group vow revenge.
