If your Town Car’s window is making a grinding noise, stopped moving, or completely dropped inside the door, this step-by-step DIY tutorial will show you how to fix it yourself. How to replace the front power window regulator on a 1990 - 1997 Lincoln Town Car using a slide block style regulator (vs the cable pulley style, although installation will be similar). This particular car’s regulator was replaced and reassembled at some point using nuts and bolts. Originally, these cars have the regular and motor held in by rivets which require drilling to remove. It’s not hard to drill out the rivets, but that is not shown in this video. TOOLS USED: Philips screw driver Adjustable wrench Trim tool Basic ratchet and socket set, socket extension #3 square drive or flat screwdriver PARTS USED: Dorman Window Regulator (no motor), front right, cable slide block style, part # 740-667 7 short bolts (3/4” max) with nuts and lock washers (to re-attach the regulator and window motor) Blue painters tape or similar (to hold glass) Let me know in the comments—are you dealing with a snapped cable on an old regulator, or did your motor gears completely chew themselves up?
