Hearts are racing, beaucoup sweat's soaking the satin sheets, and the temperature keeps going through the roof for the incorrigible and insatiable singing sensation Valerie St. James as the Dead Magnolia String Band (  / deadmagnoliastringband  ) deigns to play her original song "You Fever Me" — live for its monthly old-time country and bluegrass Uptown Hoedown at Carrollton Station nightclub at Willow and Dublin streets in New Orleans on Sept. 4, 2026. In addition to core members Nathan Marshal on guitar and vocals, Mathilde Rosi-Marshall on fiddle and vocals, and Big Cello Tom, guests included upright bassist Jamie Gaddis of Kentucky’s Girl Scruggs band, Julie Pfeffer on guitar and vocals, Lyle Werner on fiddle, Gage Rhodes on guitar and vocals, Matt Rota of The Tanglers New Orleans bluegrass band on banjo, Charlie Paycheck on piano, Oli Katz on guitar and vocals, Tucker Baker, Thomas Donald, and others. Valerie is apparently a rebel with or without a cause, and -- no -- that's not just some random shit she fished out of her closet and threw on before she crashed the gig.
