What gives the 1176 compressor design it's incredible staying power? I take apart a Hairball Audio 1176 Rev D to show what's under the hood. There are some surprising discoveries along the way, such as: a single $0.50 FET is responsible for most of the sound there is a threshold control (if you know where to look) the ratio control is a lie?!
