Write Notes Mode (Mouse Stamp Mode) [Key D]: Place notes directly onto any staff with a single click. Real-time emerald-green ghost note preview with dynamic ledger line calculation and a floating info badge (pitch, measure, duration). Automatically advances the edit cursor to the end of the newly placed note. Step Input Mode (Rapid Keyboard Entry): Fast note entry using musical note keys: `C`, `D`, `E`, `F`, `G`, `A`, `B` / `H` . Smart keyboard conflict handling: Single-key menu shortcuts on note letters (e.g., Dynamics Drawer or Write Mode on `D`) are automatically deactivated in Step Input mode to prioritize note entry. Automatically advances the edit cursor by the active note duration after each note. 2. Intelligent Rest Distribution: Strict half-measure rule enforcement (`decompose_rest_gap`): eliminates confusing clusters of fragmented rests in favor of clean, readable engraving. Chord Clusters & Collision Avoidance: Automatic notehead offset logic for second intervals and clustered harmonies. Note pushing before barlines prevents collisions between notes and bar borders. Display Quantize (Visual Note Snapping): Clean up live-performed, unquantized MIDI takes on the score canvas using an adjustable display grid (1/4, 1/8, 1/16, etc.) without altering the human performance in REAPER's timeline!
