Greetings dear friends and fans! Well, I'll admit it has been a minute since my last upload, but I hope this very special video will have been worth the wait. Here is my very first YouTube collaboration!
Akio Scenro is a terrific keyboard player and arranger from Japan; we connected awhile back since we both had done covers of an amazing song (Yuudachi) by my favorite Japanese artist, Suga Shikao. After tossing some ideas back and forth we decided to take a shot at another of Suga's best compositions, June, and here is the result!
This collaboration experience has reaffirmed for me yet again the power of music to connect people, even if they are on opposite sides of the planet (literally)! I hope you all will enjoy this, and if so please check out Akio's channel too for more great instrumental covers!
And, for good measure, here is a translation of the beautiful words to June, courtesy of Akio:
It has stopped raining and the air is stuffy.
My heart was beating fast toward the landscape of an unfamiliar town.
Tall chimneys and the smell of machine oil.
Here my old shoes seem to be hard to walk with.
June. Now I have come to a new town.
And everything seemed to become refreshed.
June. All the lies and dreams that never have been forgiven
might be possible to start over again.
And so I bit my lips.
Several nights have passed, trembling with anxiety and anticipation.
I couldn't somehow adapt myself, and sighs filled my nights.
Mother had always been nervous about something,
and I had been disgusted with my home and town.
June. The sign of summer is the only thing
that has been approaching out there.
June. Even if I go back down this endless road,
I think there is nowhere that I can belong anymore.
June. Into the town after the rain,
the red evening sun is sinking, and I could hear the siren of the factory.
June. My letter addressed to you happened to start with the words
"I am doing well."
...But I think that's OK.
