He had seen a thousand sunsets across a thousand worlds. But nothing compared to this. Commander Vale had been running cargo routes along the outer rim for eleven years. The pay was good. The solitude — better. But it was the rumors that brought him here. Whispered between docking crews and fuel station workers at the edge of charted space. A frozen moon. No atmosphere worth breathing. No settlements. No reason to stop. Except the lights. They said on the right cycle, when the moon passed closest to its parent planet, the sky would ignite. Curtains of green and blue rolling across the stars like something alive. Like the universe itself was exhaling. He set T-BR22L down on the frozen ground just before midnight. Cut the engines. Poured the last of his thermal brew into a battered cup and cracked the viewport seal just enough to feel the cold bite at his face. Then he waited.
