WHERE I COULD BE | A TRUE STORY When I was a young teenage girl, there were people God placed in my life who gave me glimpses of safety, kindness, stability, and care during a time when I desperately needed them. I call these people safekeepers. This chapter of In Hindsight is about one of mine—and how having a safe person in my life helped me see beyond what I was experiencing at home and imagine where I could be. Sometimes a safekeeper doesn’t rescue us from everything. Sometimes they simply give us a safe place to land for a little while. They show us another way. They remind us, sometimes without even knowing it, that what we are living through does not have to be the whole story of our lives. Who has been a safekeeper in your life?
