Our youngest learners of Bhavam Nrityalaya, Bangalore will now take us through a demonstration of the mudras in Bharatanatyam. There are two categories of mudras - the Asamyuta-hastas which are single handed gestures and Samyuta-hastas which are double handed gestures. These Hastas are used to depict stories, characters, creatures, emotions and many more and are an important part of learning the Bharatanatyam vocabulary. The demonstration will be by Eva, Meera, Pragyya, Lahari, Ritu, Sai Akshara,Vaidehi. This was presented as part of Bhavam Nrityalaya, Bengaluru's annual festival 2026 - “Naatya Leela Tarangini—Divine Stories, Woven in Rhythm,” bringing forth an enchanting medley of unique compositions on Lord Ganesha, Sri Hari, Lord Nataraja at Chidambaran, Lord Thyagaraja of Tiruvarur and Lord Muruga, alongside two grand thematic dance-drama productions: Bala Ramayanam—inspired by Arunaachala Kaviraayar’s immortal epic opera Rama Natakam presented by the junior and mid-level disciples of Bhavam Nrityalaya, Shivam Shivaam Harim Ramaam—a vibrant, original choreography celebrating the eternal bond between the celestial siblings Lord Vishnu and Goddess Parvati, presented by the senior disciples of Bhavam Nrityalaya.
