🕒09/10/22 1:00 PM 🌡️ 25℃ The Nisqually Entrance to Longmire and Paradise stays open year-round. The Nisqually Entrance is located six miles east of Ashford, Washington on SR 706. This entrance is one of the most popular entrances to the park; have patience and arrive early to avoid lines. Once past the gateway arch, entrance booths await with National Park Service rangers that collect an entrance fee and provide information about Mount Rainier National Park, including the main brochure and map. First constructed in 1911, the Nisqually Entrance arch stands as a literal as well as symbolic gateway to the mountain. Predating the 1916 creation of the National Park Service, the entrance arch with its massive rough-hewn logs established the authority of this new park. This archway is a preview of the architectural style throughout Mount Rainier National Park, called "National Park Service Rustic", that has shaped the design of parks throughout the country. This style utilizes natural elements from the landscape to blend with the environment while enhancing significant features of the park. As you pass the gateway arch and rustic entrance booths, trace the path of generations of visitors as you follow the road to Longmire and up to Paradise. At Paradise, find the Henry M. Jackson Visitor Center (open year-round), Paradise Inn and Paradise Guide House. The National Park Inn and Paradise Inn offer dining and overnight lodging inside the National Park.
