Siang Dam Row: Arunachal Protest Over Siang Project Turns Violent, NHPC Office Set On Fire

Protests against the proposed Siang Upper Multipurpose Project have turned violent in Arunachal Pradesh, with four women reportedly injured in clashes with police and tear gas fired to disperse protesters. An NHPC office in Pasighat was reportedly set on fire amid escalating tensions over the project. The Congress has demanded an immediate halt to project surveys, the withdrawal of security forces and the release of detained activists. The proposed project has faced opposition from sections of local communities concerned about its potential impact on the region. Reports of deaths during the unrest remain unverified. The developments put the spotlight on the dispute over the Siang project, local concerns, police action and the state government’s response under Chief Minister Pema Khandu. #sianguppermultipurposeproject #siangdam #siangriver #arunachalprotest #pasighat #arunachalpradeshnews #nhpc #nhpcprotest #pemakhandu #arunachalpolitics #northeastnews #northeastindia #policeclash #tear gas #protestviolence #damprotest #tribalrights #indigenouscommunities #environmentalconcerns #hydropowerproject #projectsurvey #congressparty..............................................................................................
