This is the English version of a song originally created in Japanese.
Listen to the original Japanese version here:
• 【AI Song】 No Encore
I’m not trying to change the song into something completely different for an overseas audience.
Rather, I made this version because I love Japanese culture, and I know there are people around the world who feel the same way.
If this song reaches someone who enjoys Japanese music, anime-inspired stories, or the atmosphere of Japanese pop culture, I would be very happy.
I had a particular game character in mind, but intentionally moved the song away from that original model. It is told from the perspective of the rival who is written to lose—someone who works relentlessly, yet knows that the moment the true protagonist appears, the spotlight and victory will be taken from him with ease.
<Lyrics>
Only hard work
Ever stood beside me
So I would never lose
I threw away even laughter
I would be the one they chose
The summit would be mine
Unless I believed it
I couldn't stay on my feet
But then you came
Wearing that easy smile
And swept away
The place that should be mine
Talent or luck
Whatever you call it
Don't dare end this
With words like those
The spotlight
Keeps turning away from me
The applause
Always falls on you
The voice I swallowed
Still burns inside my chest
For someone who can't play the lead
There is no encore
If you were cruel
It would've been easier
I can't hate you
That's why it hurts more
The days I built
Were never a lie
Then why am I the only one
Who never gets there?
My shadow deepens
The brighter you shine
Even so, I still
Won't let the curtain fall
Even if the spotlight
Forgets about me
This voice of mine
I still cannot silence
Holding all the pain
Of never being chosen
I may never play the lead
But I still won't step down
