I drove 2 hours from Bridgwater to Wales with a plan: hike from Merthyr Tydfil to Pen y Fan, then wild camp somewhere along the route.
There was just one problem...
After realising my original plan wasn't going to work, I decided not to let it ruin the day. Instead, I changed the route and turned it into a solo day hike around Pen y Fan.
What followed was a 15km loop with around 1,000m of elevation, unpredictable Welsh weather, heavy wind, plenty of mud, a few slips and falls, wild horses, sheep, mole holes and some incredible views when the clouds finally cleared.
One of the things I enjoy most about solo hiking is being able to completely be myself.
There's nobody around, so I can talk to the camera, mess around, act like an egg and just enjoy the experience.
I'm also trying to get more creative with these videos and build this channel around my adventures, even when things don't go exactly to plan.
Thanks for watching, and always I hope that you enjoyed!
