After this episode, you'll be able to order food and drinks in Germany, book a table, ask about allergies, pay separately, and leave a tip.
This is 12 short German conversations at A1-A2, spoken slowly by two voices, with every German sentence on screen, so it works for focused listening, for reading along, or in the background.
This episode is for A1-A2 learners who already understand quite a lot, but still need the words when real life starts moving. If you want to hear everyday German in cafés, restaurants, a döner shop, and a beer garden, this gives you natural phrases without turning practice into a grammar lesson.
🎧 In this episode, you'll practise:
• “Für hier oder mitnehmen?” — understanding and answering a basic café question
• “Haben Sie noch was frei?” — reserving a table by phone for the same evening
• “Ist da noch frei?” — asking whether a seat or table is available
• “Ich darf kein Rot.” — trying to explain what you do not want in a döner, then clarifying it
• “Ich vertrage keine Nüsse.” — naming an allergy clearly and safely
• “Das hatte ich nicht bestellt.” — politely saying a dish is wrong
• “Ginge auch Leitungswasser?” — asking for tap water in a careful, natural way
• “Nein, wir zahlen getrennt.” — telling the server you want to pay separately
• “Machen Sie dreißig.” — rounding up and giving a tip with confidence
The episode is built around eating out in Germany like a local: from a quick coffee and croissant to booking a table, ordering, checking ingredients, fixing a mistake, and paying naturally at the end. It is worth hearing because the phrases are short, useful, and exactly the kind you need when you are hungry, in a hurry, or trying to be polite.
Keep listening for the later conversation where a guest politely corrects the wrong dish and still keeps the situation friendly.
📝 How to learn more from this episode:
• First, listen once without stopping and notice how often the same restaurant questions return in different places.
• On the second listen, pause after short lines like “Für hier oder mitnehmen?” or “Nein, wir zahlen getrennt.” and say them aloud with the same rhythm.
• Choose three lines that fit your real life — for example about allergies, paying, or ordering drinks — and use them today.
• Come back tomorrow and replay the scenes where someone clarifies a problem politely; those are often the hardest phrases to remember under pressure.
