Myles Garrett: NFL's Most Feared Rusher, Basketball Prospect, The Next Karl Malone

What if Myles Garrett traded sacks for slam dunks? Could the NFL's most unstoppable force have redefined the NBA's power forward? In this AltPlay episode, we rewind to Arlington, Texas — where a 6'5", 247-lb Myles Garrett wasn't just the nation's No. 7 football recruit, he was a two-season varsity power forward with a real ESPN basketball recruiting profile. What if he chose hoops over helmets? We break down the bloodline that made this real: older brother Sean Williams, 2007 NBA first-round pick and elite shot-blocker, and sister Brea Garrett, NCAA indoor champion. Then we test the translation — Garrett's explosiveness off the line, power to walk back blockers, and relentless motor — as NBA tools: blowing past closeouts, dominant post-ups, weak-side blocks, and offensive rebounding. Would he have become the next Karl Malone — the 6'9" Mailman with 25 points and 10 rebounds a night, 36,928 career points, 2 MVPs and 14 All-Stars? We map the honest path, including the jumper and footwork he would have had to build from scratch after choosing football and becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. This isn't fantasy. It's grounded alternate history: how much of dominance belongs to the sport, and how much belongs to the person? Which crossover should we AltPlay next? Drop it in the comments.
