I Mistook Escape for Freedom | Official Music Video

“I Mistook Escape for Freedom” is a deeply personal song about fleeing a home where words caused pain, believing a new beginning would bring safety, and then experiencing physical violence in the new home. It tells the story of a young woman who needed shelter, not another fight, and who kept a small hope alive as she turned west toward a different life. From my album Every Road Led Me to You. Performed using my own voice profile.
