BMSD 2026 starts in just days, and the groups for all 48 invited teams are finally revealed. Group A is stacked — GodLike, Team Soul, Orangutan, Apex Gaming, Revenant XSpark, Nebula, Gladiators and more, all in one group, meaning pressure starts Day 1 for the top teams. But groups here don't just decide matchups — BMSD 2026 uses a Promotion & Relegation system, so a bad first week can literally drop you from Group A to Group B, and potentially all the way to Group C.
The groups:
Group A: GodLike Esports, Elite Nova, Apex Gaming, Team Tamilas, Reckoning Esports, 8Bit, Team Soul, Revenant XSpark, Team Outrage, Gladiators Esports, Orangutan, Vasista Esports, Nebula Esports, Genesis Esports, 7Gods Esports, Myth Official. Look at those names — BGMS champions Nebula, runner-up Gladiators, third-place Orangutan, BGIS champions Soul, Jonathan's Apex, and BMPS winners GodLike — basically every recent BGMI headline in one group. But being in Group A isn't a punishment; understanding the format, it's actually an advantage.
Group B: Blitz Esports, Zero Ark, Lastade Esports, Higg Boson Esports, Blue Army, Wyld Fangs, Mysterious 4, White Walkers, Rapid Chaos, WindGod Esports, 4TR Official, Meta Ninja, Welt Esports, Team Aryan, Rising Esports, Madkings.
Group C: GENxFM, 4Ends Esports, Raspator Esports, Team H4K, The Knight Mobs, Quantum Sparks, HyperCatz, Godsent Forever, K9 Esports, LEFP, Iris Esports, Santa Esports, Naqsh Esports, Vijay Esports, Carpe Diem, SBS Esports.
Normally three groups means Round Robin cross-play, but BMSD works differently. The opening stage runs September 22-30, with 48 teams in three 16-team groups playing 18 matches total (6 per week) — but standings don't freeze after each week. Teams move up and down.
How it works: finish Top 4 in Group B for the week, and you're promoted to Group A the following week (Group C's Top 4 move up to Group B). Meanwhile Group A's Bottom 4 get relegated to Group B, and Group B's Bottom 4 drop to Group C. Teams finishing 5th-12th stay in their current group. Then the next week plays out with the new lineups, and the process repeats.
So imagine GodLike or Soul have a horrible first week and land in Group A's Bottom 4 — next week, Group B. Meanwhile if K9 dominates Group C into the Top 4, they move up to Group B, and a second strong week could take them all the way to Group A. Group A's big names aren't locked in for all nine days — every week's performance reshapes the lobby, and a bad week has a visible consequence: you don't just drop in the standings, your entire group changes. Starting in Group C isn't elimination either — a proper climb route exists, and two strong weeks can completely change the picture.
After Week 3, the final standings decide seeding for the Survival Stage, followed by Upper and Lower Bracket Survival, Semi Finals, Last Chance, and the Grand Finals on October 16-18. BMSD carries a ₹1 crore prize pool, but the biggest reward is direct PMGC 2026 qualification for the champion — plus BMSD's Top 6 teams get the chance to represent India at BMIC 2026.
That's what makes Group A's first week the most exciting part for me — 16 teams start there, but after Week 1 only 12 keep their spot; the other 4 drop to Group B. The message for teams starting in Group B or C is simple: nobody's position up top is permanent. Perform, and take it.
BMSD 2026 starts September 22. This time, the battle isn't just about topping the points table — first, save your group. Then, save your tournament. Then, book the PMGC ticket.
