Why Would a Loving God Allow Evil?

Why would a loving, all-powerful God allow suffering, evil, injustice, and death? In this video, we explore the Christian answer to the problem of evil through Scripture, the Cross, the Resurrection, St. Augustine, St. Thomas Aquinas, free will, divine providence, suffering, and the Beatific Vision. Christianity does not teach that evil is good or that suffering is easy. Rather, it teaches that God can bring good out of evil without being the author of evil—and that ultimately, suffering and death will not have the final word. We also explore why humanity was created with freedom, why the saints in Heaven can no longer sin, how suffering can be united to Christ, and why our ultimate destiny is eternal communion with God.
