Very fun run! ‪@jeezhs‬ and I used the MFB multiplayer mod on the Twilight Princess PC port Dusklight to 100% the game together with a route that I made and that we and ‪@rodner1‬ tidied up together with some testing. You can see Jeez's game feed on the left side of the screen. Thanks to mdra for making MFB, Twilit Realm for making Dusklight, and Nintendo for making Zelda. In this mod, when one player gets an item or progresses the game in any way, the other player also receives that item or game progress. We can see and interact with each other, and while we only do that a few times in the route because it usually makes more sense for us to be in different places, we make good use of the few times we do see each other. The main things that aren't synchronized between players are time of day, health, and ammo counts. We made this category up, so there isn't a leaderboard for it with set rules. I tend not to use many of Dusklight's "quality of life" features, but Jeez uses more, so we compromised by leaving on fast scene transitions, fast twilight bugs/tears of light (TPHD style), instant saves, holding B for instant text, and quick transform (TPHD style); we left all other cheats/tools/options off. Dusklight also has significantly faster loads than console. This all means that the time we got in this run isn't comparable to the time we'd get doing a co-op run on console (which isn't possible), but of course that wasn't the point. There were a few times during the run that we briefly got disconnected from each other, and we decided to pause the game and the timer while reconnecting because our games would have gotten desynchronized if we had made progress while disconnected. We also had to be careful when saving and quitting because we couldn't receive items/progress from each other while on the title screen. There's an option in MFB to manually sync to each other, and we had to use it once in this run, but we only use it when absolutely necessary because it also syncs the things that wouldn't normally be synced (time of day, health, ammo counts). I always love routing 100%, and routing this was a particularly fun challenge. For both of us to be making progress all the time, the route had to be arranged so that we wouldn't get held up waiting for each other. For instance, I finished taming Epona just before Jeez got to Ordon to wrestle Bo (which requires having tamed Epona), and then he finished wrestling Bo and got the iron boots just as I was preparing to sink into Lake Hylia to enter Lakebed Temple early. Some sections of the route require tight coordination like that, and other sections are more loose. The route mooostly succeeds as far as coordination goes, though it's not perfect, and of course our coordination was affected by RNG and mistakes at various points. Spoilers, I guess: I can only think of three things we do in this run that rely on the multiplayer mod and aren't self-explanatory: Within the first few minutes of the run, I void out in Ordon Village for no apparent reason after Jeez finishes herding goats. My understanding is that automatically voiding is something that was intentionally added to the mod in a few areas to cause reloads to reconcile state differences between the two players' games that otherwise might cause crashes. For this run, it's only relevant on that one occasion, and we routed with it in mind. (ty Maddie) We were able to use one golden wolf to learn two hidden skills by having one person enter the hidden skill map and learn the skill, then having the other person enter the hidden skill map from the same wolf before the first person advanced the text to leave and make the golden wolf disappear from the overworld. We did this twice in the run. Something very similar to this can be done on the original game (i.e. on console, without a multiplayer mod), but the inputs required for it make it TAS-only. We also use a totally different trick to learn two hidden skills from the Ordon golden wolf, and that also doesn't rely on the multiplayer mod. We duplicated the first sol in Palace of Twilight to skip getting the second one. When you bring a sol to the outdoor entrance area of the dungeon, the game will no longer let you lose the sol to the Zant hand, and if you void out, throw the sol into the void, or leave the area and come back, the sol will respawn on the ground near the door you brought it from. So if one person brings a sol out, the other person can simply load the entrance area before the first person puts the sol in the socket to get their own sol for free. Both sols still work and contribute towards getting the Light Sword. There's another trick we do near the beginning that relies on the multiplayer mod, but it is self-explanatory and I'm not spoiling it. So there.
