This song is called Nothing but a Hallelujah. I’ve been dealing with some personal issues, so I wrote a song about it. Here are the lyrics: I’m sitting on this worn-out couch, A place I’ve claimed for many years. Same old room, same old familiar walls— But something’s different here. No cloud hanging above me. No need to disappear. So let Your grace come over me Instead of smoke tonight. Lord… Fill this room with light. ⸻ Verse 1 There’s an emptiness beside me Where temporary bliss once stayed. Funny how something promising comfort Can leave a hollow when it fades. But my mind is sound and present. Every thought belongs to me. And maybe being here, uncomfortable, Is better than pretending I’m at peace. So I won’t run from the silence. I’ll sit here awhile. And pray. ⸻ Pre-Chorus Give me something that will last, Lord, Something this world cannot provide. I’ve had enough of borrowed heavens That disappear before the light. ⸻ Chorus (band opens up) I am grateful for You, Lord. You’ve never left me behind. You’ve carried me through every valley, Every dark and desperate night. I don’t have much to bring You, No grand offering in my hands. I’ve got nothing but a hallelujah— So I’ll give You all I have. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Lord Jesus… Here I am. ⸻ Verse 2 (steady drums enter) Oh, my weary soul demands it now. My patience is as thin as paper. I’ve been taught that every hunger Needs an answer now, not later. One more click. One more hit. One more moment feeling good. Instant gratification Always promises it could— Give me Heaven for an evening. Give me peace without the wait. But every temporary heaven Leaves an emptiness in its place. ⸻ Pre-Chorus 2 So teach me how to wait, Lord. Teach me joy that doesn’t fade. I don’t want another imitation Of the peace that only You can make. ⸻ Chorus I am grateful for You, Lord. ⸻ Bridge (music drops back; vulnerable vocal) Maybe joy won’t come like lightning. Maybe peace won’t flood the room. Maybe some prayers grow in silence Long before they ever bloom. So if all I have is patience— Lord, You know it’s wearing thin. I’ll give You what little I have left… And let Your grace come rushing in. (guitars begin building) Not the smoke. Not the numbness. Not another borrowed high. I want something that survives the morning. I want peace that doesn’t die. ⸻ Final Chorus (full band; big but worshipful) I am grateful for You, Lord! You’ve never left me behind. When I couldn’t see beyond the valley, You were walking by my side. And I still don’t have much to bring You, Just these empty, open hands. I’ve got nothing but a hallelujah— But You take me as I am. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! For the mercy You provide. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! For another clear-minded night. ⸻ Outro (returns to the same clean guitar as the intro) Still sitting on this worn-out couch. Same room. Same walls. But I’m here. Really here. And for tonight… That’s enough. Let Your grace come over me Instead of the smoke. Fill me with Your light, dear Lord. I’ve got nothing but a hallelujah. Amen.
