So, there’s a Megaman Battle Network spin-off. You probably haven’t heard of it. It’s called Megaman Battle Chip Challenge and, no, that thumbnail isn’t wrong. According to the Game Data Library, it had a reported lifetime sales number of 44,844 copies. Even Operation Shooting Star sold better than it did. So, what gives? Even the worst Battle Network game wasn’t that poorly received by the playerbase. How on Earth did a spin-off to one of the most beloved Megaman series in the franchise’s collective history become such a commercial failure?
