Volodymyr Vasylenko Biography Virtuoso Accordionist Volodymyr Vasylenko is one of five in the whole of Ukraine who plays jazz on accordion and bayan. He has numerous awards and formal qualifications alongside many concert performances in Ukraine and beyond. Volodymyr grew up in a family with three children and started playing the accordion when he was only three years old. When his father saw his blossoming talent, he sold his tractor and bought his son a ‘grownup’ accordion for $2000. Volodymyr still has this today. Most recently he taught music in schools before having to flee Kharkiv, the city where he used to live with his family before the war.
