Progress Through Partnerships: The Tampa Bay Smart Cities Alliance

Recorded: September 4, 2026 Presenter: Sara Hendricks, Deputy Program Director, Transportation Options, Center for Urban Transportation Research, University of South Florida What began as a collaboration on a proposal to win a federal grant to secure Smart City Challenge funds for the City of Tampa, evolved into a long-standing partnership led by the City of Tampa, the University of South Florida, and the Florida Department of Transportation, District Seven. This presentation will discuss the eight-year evolution of the partnership, the research initiatives that have resulted, and the benefits of partnerships in a complex world.
