Your Cells Are Forgetting Who They Are — the new science of aging

Why do we age, if our DNA stays the same? Every cell has the same DNA, so what makes a neuron a neuron — and why does that slowly stop working? A Nature paper (Sept 30, 2026) argues cell identity is written once with high fidelity and maintained with limited fidelity, so it drifts. We follow the idea from Waddington's landscape to the ICE mice, Horvath's clock, mesenchymal drift, and the first human partial-reprogramming trial.
