First Look: NEW Roaring Moon ex vs. Garchomp ex | Pokemon TCG Paradox Rift Game Play

I do really like both of these decks and we've already looked at the deck list for both of them (though there's likely some changes on the horizon for both of them). If you want to see the deck lists, I'll post the links to them below! Let's take a moment to talk briefly about the strategy of each deck to help you understand the game play a bit better: Roaring Moon ex: This is meant to be a turbo-ish dark deck that uses Darkrai VSTAR to deal early damage. We have cards like Dark Patch, Galarian Moltres, and Galarian Moltres V to help accelerate energies into play so Darkrai can do more damage. Now with Paradox Rift, we have a supporter, Professor Sada's Mettle, to help accelerate even more energies into play (but only to Ancient Pokemon)! Most of our attackers can be used to get some good chip damage in and get consistent 2-hit-knock outs, but Roaring Moon ex says screw that, I want to obliterate anything in the opponent's active. The way I see it is to use Darkrai VSTAR, Moltres V, and Moltres to get your first 3-4 prizes, and use Frenzied Gouging on Roaring Moon ex to pick up the win. Roaring Moon can also be a great week to deal with big, tanky walls or other Pokemon you normally couldn't get around. Oh, and on top of all of that, we have Kirlia and Radiant Greninja to help get energies in the discard and to help us draw more cards. Yay consistency. Garchomp ex: Garchomp ex is a top contender for my go-to deck post rotation (at the time this video goes live we have no idea when that will be) because of it's incredible game play loop. 1) Get energies in the discard 2) Attack with Garchomp to accelerate energies out of the discard to your benched Pokemon 3) Attach as many energies onto Lucario as you can 4) Attack with Lucario for massive damage. It's not unreasonable to get 4-6 energies on a single Lucario and hit for 250-370 damage! One of the reasons this works is that Lucario acclerates energies from the deck to it and because when it attacks, it discards all of its energies. Garchomp ex also attacks for a single Fighting energy, so you can very easily run this with Pidgeot ex instead of Arceus VSTAR to find Cheryl. Cheryl allows you to heal all damage from the Garchomp and also discard any energies attached to it. You can retreat to a different Garchomp you powered up with the first one or just attach an energy from the hand to the same Garchomp and continue to attack. Forcing our opponent to struggle for a knock out, only to give up two prizes, and then have the possibility to counter ko'ing with a single prize Pokemon can make for a difficult prize trade. Overall, I really enjoyed these decks and I'm excited to continue to play with them! Paradox Rift has a lot of cards that will shake up the meta and honestly, I think we need it.
