During his recent time in Nepal, Venerable Bhikkhu Paññākāra Tuệ Nhân joined Bodhi Television for a thoughtful conversation about the story, purpose, and continuing message of the Walk for Peace. In Part 1 of the interview, Venerable Paññākāra reflects on how the journey was inspired by his earlier pilgrimage through India and Nepal, together with the suffering he witnessed during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. These experiences led him to ask a simple but meaningful question: What can a Buddhist monk do to help? He explains why the venerable monks chose to walk rather than travel quickly. Walking allowed them to slow down, practice patience and mindfulness, meet people where they were, listen to their stories, and share loving-kindness and compassion along the way. Despite physical hardship, difficult weather, and other challenges, the journey brought together people of many faiths, cultures, and backgrounds through a shared longing for peace. The conversation also explores how peace begins within through mindfulness in our thoughts, speech, and actions. Venerable Paññākāra speaks about compassion guided by wisdom, our relationship with technology and artificial intelligence, and the importance of helping younger generations use these tools mindfully. We warmly invite everyone to watch Part 1 of this meaningful interview and reflect with us on how each person can help carry peace into daily life. Our sincere gratitude to Bodhi Television and the interview team in Nepal for this thoughtful conversation and their gracious welcome. May you and all beings be well, happy and at peace. 🙏
