Kingdom Hearts Credits.. as POWERLINE (Goofy Movie)

Wow I'm behind on writing these things but #kingdomhearts time yet again!! Firstly thank you ‪@MarchCaprice‬ and the community of Kingdom Hearts fans who put on this amazing recurring event for 6 years now! This game, infectious albeit silly, has such a hold over me and I've been excited each year that we host this big concert of arrangements! When David reached out regarding the 90s theme, and brought up doing Powerline-style music, it was absolutely go time. Powerline being this archetypal Prince-parody, from my favorite Disney movie A Goofy Movie, is such a fun musical role to work on and I've been dreaming of a scenario where I could cover I2I and Stand Out from the movie let alone anything in KH! For an instrumental track, however, I had to really consider what elements of Powerline's limited discography work for a 5-6 minute credit song, pulling in ideas from Prince's "Purple Rain" as well as Guns N' Roses' "November Rain" for the more symphonic and choral ideas. On the bright side, this gave me so much more freedom to include guitar solos, flexible timings, and create something refreshing from a lot of the more straight-on arrangements I've done! Filming this was kind of its own hell however. The costume, while fairly comfortable compared to a Diver suit or mocap suit, restricted me from clicking buttons or even playing guitar comfortably, and the lighting in my first garage setup was horrible. I reshot the entire video with Allison to get a much better, "bigger" depth of field and instantly the edit clicked together! Much like KH's credit sequence, I also wanted to nod my own adventures covering Kingdom Hearts - that gave me the idea to sneak in my previous March Caprice entries and works, along with a few small nods to the Goofy Movie to fill out the time.
