#DeepSea #Ocean #MarineLife Some deep sea creatures look so strange that it’s hard to believe they’re real. In this video, we explore nine disturbing ocean animals filmed by Japan’s ROVs and research submersibles, using real deep sea footage and science to explain what you’re looking at. From the alien-looking Magnapinna squid, also known as the bigfin squid, to a transparent octopus and the bizarre headless chicken monster, these recordings reveal a side of marine life most people never get to see. Featuring footage from JAMSTEC, Japan’s marine research agency, we look at how these animals survive in the darkness and why so much about them remains unknown. Meet the crown jellyfish Periphyllopsis braueri, blind lobsters, the swimming bristle worm Flota, and the glass-like Amphitretus octopus. We also examine Asellota isopods, a Physonectae siphonophore, the swimming sea cucumber Enypniastes eximia, and the sharp-toothed deep-sea lizardfish Bathysaurus ferox before reaching the mysterious Magnapinna squid. If you’re interested in ocean exploration, strange animals, marine biology, or the real creatures behind deep sea horror, these underwater encounters offer plenty to think about. Their appearances are unsettling, but the adaptations behind them are even more fascinating. Which creature would you most want to see recorded again? My pick is a Magnapinna squid hunting, because I want to know how it uses those incredibly long arms and tentacles. 0:00 Intro 0:59 Periphyllopsis braueri 2:12 Blind Lobsters 3:16 Flota 4:20 Amphitretus 5:10 Asellota 6:00 Physonectae Siphonophore 7:14 Headless Chicken Monster 8:26 Deep-Sea Lizardfish 9:36 Magnapinna Squid Copyright note: Clips and images are used for educational commentary.
