Talk: Tresures in the darkness

What if the darkest places in our lives are not empty—but places where God is waiting to meet us? Isaiah 45:3 gives us this beautiful promise: “I will give you treasures hidden in darkness, riches stored in secret places.” And in Genesis 32:22–32, Jacob encounters God in the darkness of the night, wrestling through one of the most difficult moments of his life. He enters the encounter one way and comes out changed. Sometimes God meets us in the night seasons—in uncertainty, grief, struggle, disappointment, and the moments when we feel most alone. The darkness can become a place of encounter, transformation, and unexpected treasure. So how do we walk through the dark night of the soul? David points us toward the gifts God has already placed around us: creativity, creation, and the abundant grace of God. In making, noticing, walking, creating, praying, and simply remaining open to God, we can begin to discover treasures hidden in places we never expected to find them. This video explores how God meets us at our most difficult moments, how darkness can become a place of spiritual formation, and how we can learn to recognise the treasures God has hidden there. ✨ There may be treasure in the darkness.
