(July 2026) Takeoff from : runway 31L at AUH Landing at : runway 18C at AMS Seat number : 12K Taken on : 4th August 2022 Filmed with : IPhone 12 PRO MAX, Canon SX540HS, GoPro Hero 9 Conclusion : After arriving from Kuala Lumpur, it was time for my second flight with Etihad Airways, this time onboard their Boeing 787-10 to Amsterdam. I had to clear security again, which was fairly quick. Unfortunately, this was in the summer of 2022, before Abu Dhabi’s new terminal had opened. Before departure, I visited the Etihad Business Class Lounge. The food selection was good, but the lounge was extremely crowded since most of Etihad’s European flights depart around midnight. Our flight to Amsterdam was the last departure of the night, leaving at almost 4:00 a.m. Boarding was slightly delayed. The Business Class cabin was identical to the one on Etihad’s 787-9, featuring a 1-2-1 configuration. My seat for this flight was 12K. It offered plenty of privacy thanks to the high walls, although the seat itself sits quite low. It could be converted into a fully flat bed and included USB ports, power outlets, and a large entertainment screen with an excellent selection of movies and TV shows. Waiting at my seat were a stylish Bvlgari amenity kit, a COVID travel kit, and a bottle of water. The seat pocket contained the safety card and a sickness bag. One small downside was the lack of individual air vents. Before departure, I enjoyed a refreshing lemon and mint drink. The friendly cabin crew asked if I wanted to have a meal after takeoff, but I decided to skip it and get some sleep instead. After takeoff, I quickly converted the seat into a bed and slept comfortably for most of the flight. Around two hours before landing, I woke up for breakfast. I chose the omelette, served with a bread basket, yogurt, orange juice, butter, and jam. Everything was fresh and delicious. The lavatory was standard for the 787, although having a window was a nice touch. After breakfast, we began our descent into Amsterdam. To my surprise, the arrival process was very smooth. Passport control was quick, although baggage delivery took a little longer. Ironically, when I flew out of Amsterdam a few days later with Norwegian, the airport was much more chaotic—a trip report you can already watch on my channel! Overall, this was another excellent flight with Etihad Airways aboard their Boeing 787-10. Despite the outdated terminal in Abu Dhabi and the unpleasant 4:00 a.m. departure time, the comfortable seat, great breakfast, and friendly crew made for a very enjoyable journey. I paid around €1,900 for the Kuala Lumpur–Abu Dhabi–Amsterdam itinerary in Business Class, which I think was a very good deal, even if both flights were a little short for a full night’s sleep. © Aviation LF 2026 You can share this video.
