How to sew a clear vinyl tote bag with repurposed straps

This vinyl tote can be worn without the extra inside bag. The bag on the inside can be used incase you want more privacy and not show everything that’s in the bag. I used straps from an old tote bag that I wasn’t using anymore, however straps can be made in so many different ways. You can be creative with what type of straps you like. The vinyl tote does not take long to make at all. The extra draw string bag on the inside took a little longer but a great addition to the tote. Materials for this project: sewing machine matching thread a walking foot or a teflon foot to glide over vinyl Vinyl cotton fabric fusible interfacing cord or thin rope large eyelets or grommets a grommet kit to set the grommets cutting tools marking tools all the these tools can be found at your local fabric store and amazon The measurements are as follows: measurements for the outside vinyl bag cut 2 front and back panels 12 in. X 15 in. bottom base cut 5 in. X 12 in. 2 side panels cut 5 in. X 15 inches you can make your own bias tape or it may be easier to just buy some To match the inside bag you can make your own bias tape like I did. I just cut strips that were 2 inches wide and made each strip an inch longer than the width and length of the bag. for example for the long sides of the bag, the strips can be 2 in. X 17 inches. and for the short sides of the bottom of the bag the stripes can be 2 in. X 14 in. For the top of the bag I cut a strip that was 2 inches wide and an inch longer than the whole length of the top of the bag to make sure the strip went all the way around the top of the bag. Inside bag measurements cut 4 outside fabric panels the same size as 5 vinyl pieces cut the lining pieces the same measurements as the outside fabric pieces you can use any type of thin rope or cord to go thru the holes to make the draw string. I can be as long as you like, however make sure it's long enough to tie a bow for closure. you can make your own straps or just use some like I did from as old bag I had lying around.
