George Nathansen has a speech disability and relies on a communication device to talk. In July 2021, Marion County Sheriff's Deputy Neil Rosaci arrested him for filming a car crash scene in Dunnellon, Florida, charging him with obstruction after telling him on camera that he was "completely unreadable." A month later, the state attorney dropped the charge, saying the body camera footage did not support it. Nathansen has since filed a federal lawsuit seeking one million dollars.

LEGAL POINT:
Rosaci arrested Nathansen for obstruction under Florida Statute 843.02 for allegedly refusing to leave the scene. Under Baxter v. Roberts (11th Cir. 2022), whether that kind of order was lawful enough to support the charge is a question for a jury, not an automatic finding of guilt. https://hallapproved.com/us/cases/ca1...
