72 Hours in Miami: Overtown, Brickell and citizenM

Hey editors, I flew to Miami for 72 hours and did something completely out of the norm for me... dinner at Red Rooster Overtown with a stranger, on the FIRST day I landed. This trip pushed me: I sat for a big exam I'd been preparing for, explored the history of Overtown (including the beautiful Dunns-Josephine Hotel), walked Downtown Brickell, and stayed at citizenM Miami Brickell before heading back to Charlotte. I'm rebuilding my life in my late 30s, one chapter at a time, and this trip was a chapter.
