Orona Atoll Scientific Expedition. Phoenix Islands, Kiribati

In April and May 2019 a group of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Scientists set sail on the Sea Dragon to conduct scientific research on the reefs of a number of the Phoenix islands in Kiribati. Their work sampling and coring ancient corals enables a better understanding of the history and current state of these remote healthy and unhealthy reefs.
