Framed in Steel: The Walbrook Building, London

The Walbrook Building in London features large open trading floors and represents a major development in modern office design for the City. This 10-storey L-shaped structure provides 3,693m² of retail space and 35,283m² of offices, all within the height restrictions near St Paul’s Cathedral. Constructed with over 6,000t of structural steelwork, the building uses composite floor slabs and cellular beams throughout to support open-plan layouts on a 9m grid, minimising internal columns.
