I’m a Japanese expat living in Malaysia, sharing through videos what I’ve seen, felt, and been surprised by. This time, I explored both the lively Chinese-Malaysian hawker stalls and the Malay Muslim stalls. Chinese-Malaysian hawkers operate indoors even during the day, while Malay Muslim stalls differ in style. Malay Muslim stalls begin setting up around evening, when parking lots or streets are closed off. Unlike hawkers that are housed indoors, Malay Muslim stalls are outdoors, with electricity, water, and gas provided independently. At these stalls, food vendors, clothing shops, vegetable sellers, and butchers line up densely across the area. In large-scale Malay Muslim night markets, countless stalls appear, making it hard to decide what to eat.
