He first gives and overview of the main causes and conditions for the "split" being primarily: 1) different lineages of master-disciples 2) different languages 3) different locations/geography 4) different customs and culture 5) political interference So it was a complex net of causes and conditions that led them to split in such ways and not simple to explain in a few words.
