"Wealth is not happiness. Sincere devotion transcends ritual."
Welcome to The Aradhana Spirit, a digital pilgrimage celebrating the life, work, and radical spiritual conviction of Sadguru Sri Tyagaraja Swami (1767–1847). Filmed live at the Barbican Centre, London, this series presents a sacred 8-part weekly rollout featuring the virtuoso sisters, Ranjani and Gayatri, accompanied by a world-class ensemble.
🌟 Part 8 Featured Release: Nagumomu Ganaleni (The Grand Finale)
Video Title: Nagumomu Ganaleni
Raga: Abheri | Talam: Adi
Significance: The Emotional and Musical Peak
As the grand finale of our concert series, today's release features Tyagaraja Swami’s most beloved masterpiece, Nagumomu Ganaleni. It seamlessly weaves evocative poetry, profound devotion, and the deep, moving soul of Raga Abheri.
Ranjani and Gayatri present this work in its ultimate grandeur—complete with an expansive improvisational alapana, intricate neraval, and sparkling kalpanaswaras. The soaring phrases in the upper register and sweeping sangatis capture the raw, dramatic intensity of a devotee crying out to the Divine, bringing our eight-week musical pilgrimage to an unforgettable peak.

Charanam

Khagaraju: The King of Birds (Garuda, Rama's mount).
Nee yana vini / Vega jada-do: Hearing your command, does he not move quickly?
Gaganani kilaku / Bahu dooramulalo: From the sky to the earth, is it really a very great distance?
Jagamele Paramatma: O Supreme Soul who rules the universe.
Evatula moralidudu: To whom else can I cry out or complain?
Translation: When you command Garuda, does he not fly to earth instantly? Is the distance from the heavens to this world really too far for you? O Supreme Soul who rules the universe, to whom else can I turn? You alone must protect me, O Lord praised by Tyagaraja.
The Radical Saint
Tyagaraja Swami famously rejected royal gold to maintain his spiritual independence, choosing simplicity on the banks of the Kaveri river. Composing in Telugu—the language of ordinary people—he ensured that sincere devotion was accessible to everyone regardless of status. His practice of ekagrata (one-pointedness) stands as an antidote to our modern era of fragmented attention.
Thank you for joining us on this beautiful, transformative journey through the music of Tyagaraja.
