This is the emphasizing and underlying theme behind this exuberant melody. M. Samuel Abeysekera is an Indian Tamil Christian (Church of South India). His ministry of music began when he joined the choir of the Tamil Wesley Church in Royapettah, Chennai as an 8-year old boy soprano in the year, 1946. He then served as Hon. Organist in the Tamil Wesley Church in George Town, Chennai (between 1951 and 1955). Between 1953 and 1957, he was a student at the Madras Christian College in Tambaram, Chennai where he was the pianist for Monday and Friday morning services in Bishop Heber and St. Thomas’ Halls.
