SCA Ortviken CTMP project

The demand for newsprint and magazine paper in the world has decreased and in order to adapt to this change, SCA decided to shut down the production of newsprint and LWC at the Ortviken mill in Sweden and focus on producing CTMP pulp instead. A project was started in 2021 to carry out the conversion. Valmet delivered the CTMP plant rebuild and the new dewatering, drying and baling. It included the first Fiber flash dryer ever built according to Valmet’s own concept. The new line was taken over by SCA in March 2023. Video shooting by Torbjörn Bergkvist
