We Almost Returned Our Rescue Dog (Here's Why) | Episode 4 of Max's Journey Mini Series.

Bringing home a rescue dog is a journey filled with hope, but it can also come with unexpected challenges. In this video, I share an honest, unfiltered look at our first few days with our first rescue dog, Max, after adopting him from kennels where he had lived for three and a half years following his journey from being found abandoned in Romania. Just three days in, on Christmas Day 2024, a frightening moment occurred when Max bit my mum's hand. Thankfully, it didn’t break the skin, but it was a serious wake-up call that made us question whether we could keep him and forced us to realise just how much we still had to learn about canine body language, stress signals, and the decompression period. Instead of facing it alone, we reached out to the rescue for behavioural support, adjusted our routines, and gave Max the time, space, and safety he needed to settle.
